Phineas Hands & Associates was founded in 1960 by Colonel P J Hands MBE, ERD. M Inst RE. FI Arb. in Merstham, Surrey.

Due to demand a second office was opened in Brighton, Sussex managed by Thomas E Guy, who following P J Hands retirement took over as principle.

In 1994, following T E Guy's retirement, the business was moved to Oxted in Surrey, and management became the responsibility of Donald M Beaumont I Eng. LAE.FIMI. MIRTE. M Inst AEA, MFIEA. who is the proprietor.

In 1998 Phineas Hands & Associates successfully took over R Curtis & Co (1939) following the retirement of P E Robinson I Eng. A Inst AEA. AM Inst BE. MFIEA.
